1. What is Vlaai & Bass?

Vlaai & Bass is an event featuring interactive electronic music production masterclasses, led by experienced producers. Alongside the masterclasses, participants can take part in hands-on workshops such as remix challenges, where they apply what they’ve learned in a creative and practical way. During breaks, there’s time for networking, testing hardware, and enjoying free vlaai (a traditional pie).

2. Who is the event for?

The event is suitable for producers of all skill levels, beginners who want to start producing, more experienced producers and fans looking for a behind-the-scenes experience.

3. Do I need experience in music production to join?

No, the masterclasses are accessible to both beginners and advanced participants. There are opportunities to ask questions, and a free glossary of music production terms is provided.

4. What does a masterclass include?

The format varies per producer and may include track breakdowns, live production sessions, tips & tricks, and more. Each session provides valuable insights into music production.

5. Can I give a masterclass too?

6. What types of “vlaai” are available?

During the event, we’ll serve rice pie, apricot pie, pudding crumble pie, and more.

7. How much “vlaai” can I eat?

There is no limit, but be mindful of your body!

8. Is there enough “vlaai”?

Our “vlaaiwilliger” ensures there’s plenty for everyone. If we run low, we’ll restock.

9. What if I’m allergic to pie?

10. How do I purchase tickets?

11. Are there discounts for groups or students?

No, we keep ticket prices low to make the masterclasses accessible.

12. What is included in the ticket price?

The ticket price covers 1 or 2 masterclasses, unlimited pie, access to hardware demos, a book stand, and the open DJ booth.

13. Can I cancel or transfer my ticket?

Yes, tickets are not personal and can be transferred.

Evenement information

14. What are the timings of the masterclasses and breaks?

Check the schedule on the program page. Breaks between sessions last 15-30 minutes, with shorter 15-minute breaks during the masterclasses.

15. Is food and drink available?

In addition to free pie, drinks and snacks can be purchased at the venue.

16. Do I need to bring my own laptop?

No, but feel free to bring your laptop if you want to work or get inspired during the event.

17. What if I arrive late?

You can still enter but please keep noise levels low to avoid disturbing others.

18. Where is the event taking place?

Our events take place across the Euregio, with editions in Sittard (The Breakfast Hub), Maastricht (Muziekgieterij), and Hasselt (De Serre). Check the location page for more info on each venue.

19. Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

20. Is parking available?

Paid parking garages are within walking distance. See the location page for details.

21. Are there nearby accommodations?

There are hotels and AirBnBs in the center of Hasselt, Maastricht and Sittard.

22. Can I take photos or videos?

Photos and short impressions are allowed, but full recordings of sessions are discouraged. Feel free to take notes.

23. Are there networking opportunities?

Yes, there is plenty of time to network during breaks and after the masterclasses, while enjoying some vlaai.

24. Is there a cloakroom available?

There is no secured cloakroom, but you can keep your belongings with you.

In case of cancellation, you will receive a refund for the ticket price (excluding service fees).
